ISO standards incomplete

Ship operators around the world generally swear by ISO 8217 as the criterion for procurement of marine fuels. But unknown to many, as a report in the Lloyd's List indicates, fuels meeting the quality parameters stated in this standard do not always guarantee problem-free operations or safeguard the ship's engines and fuel treatment system from bunker related damage.
