Bangalore , June 19 NOTHING excites Indians like cricket. And nobody can motivate an Indian more than a friend or a relative. Realising the power of these two sentiments, Accenture India's BPO operations has launched an employee referral programme revolving around the cricket theme. The result: the company has received more than 4,000 resumes in about two weeks time. Says the Accenture India's HR Lead, Mr Rahul Varma, "Employee referrals have always yielded good results. But combined with the cricket theme, the success rate has been very high." High success rate in the recruitment process would amount to the entry of better quality of talent and more importanly, employees who will not exit in a hurry. "When satisfied employees refer their friends and relatives, the chances of getting the right hire is definitely higher," says Mr Varma. As the recruitment process is still on at the company, how many of these 4,000 would be converted into actual appointments is hard to say, according to him. Currently, Accenture India's BPO arm employs 11,000 people. To participate in the `Cricket Mania,' employees form teams comprising 10-15 members. For every candidate referred, the individual and the team score points that are designated `runs.' The runs scored for a referral depends on the level of the candidate, the day on which the candidate is referred, the stage in the recruitment process the referred candidate has reached, among other factors. Apart from the top scoring team that wins prizes, the highest individual scorer gets to visit The Lords cricket grounds at London. Through this interactive campaign, Accenture has ensured that the employee referral programme becomes an engaging exercise between the employee and the employer rather than being just a resume gathering process, says Mr Varma.
