Unemployment in India

This refers to the article, "Is India shining for the jobless" (Business Line, June 18). Though the country's enormous size and its ancient traditions may be disadvantages, it is up to its people to turn them into advantages. If Singapore and Korea can shine, how much more would India be capable of?

It is a sad state of affairs indeed that we are not able to capitalise on our vast natural resources to make the country's farm sector more remunerative and profitable and to generate more employment for the country's youth.

India's vastness and its divergent features should complement each other and for this to happen, we need to make drastic changes in our policies, planning and governance.
