Upper Sileru generation

HYDERABAD: About 200 MW of power is being generated at the Upper Sileru project from Monday, following the approval from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) to deplete Balimela reservoir levels.

The Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (APTransco) had urged the Generation Corporation (APGenco), to arrange a joint meeting between the Governments of Orissa and Andhra Pradesh to deplete the reservoir levels from 1,440 feet, minimum draw down level (MDDL) to 1,432 ft MDDL to facilitate the full generation at Upper Sileru.

The proposal sent to the CEA got the nod. Stating thisAPTransco in a press release said it was supplying power at an average of 138 million units/day as against 122 million units/day, an increase of 13 per cent over the corresponding period last year.
