Musi River beautification

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government has approved a Rs 906.36-crore package for beautification of the Musi River to be spent in two phases of 15 and 30 months.

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S.Rajashekhara Reddy, while reviewing the Save Musi Campaign, approved a special purpose vehicle to address the project. This would comprise officers drawn from Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad, Hyderabad Urban Development Authority, and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water and Sewerage Board.

Services of Architect Hafeez Contractor have also been enlisted.

The project aims at a thorough clean up of the river, develop it as a major tourist destination, create city level recreation and green spaces while facilitating economic and social development. About 1,600 acres would be taken up for forestation, gardens and landscaping.
