Privatise public utilities

It is time to make a serious national debate on the prevailing trade union practices and privatisation in the country. World is unipolar and no one can reverse the trend, yet in our country our trade unionism lives in a time warp, it seems Trade union leaders fail to see how the common man feels about unionism and bureaucracy.

The money guzzling Public sector utility services has forfeited the trust of the common man. For example, in the telecom sector, the company that made its fortune through urban public betrayed the customers by providing support to private cell phone companies, slapping its own phones tariff and taxes on land phones. Same is true of transport, electricity and water supply. A service from any of the above is provided only after inordinate delay and bribing. People are ready to pay a little more instead of paying bribes. The masses today want privatisation in public utility services.
