Airtel to add 900 more towers in TN

Madurai , May 26

BHARTI Cellular Ltd has plans to add 900 cell sites (base trans-receiver towers) in the State by March 2006 to expand its coverage.

The Chief Executive Officer, Mr P. Swaminathan, told presspersons the expansion would provide superior and seamless coverage across the State.

The 1,100th cell site was recently launched at Rameswaram The Union Government's decision to allow inter-service area connectivity between Chennai and other areas in Tamil Nadu, by doing away with STD charges for mobile to mobile and landline to mobiles, will raise the volume of traffic.
