AP cable operators oppose move to block channels

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , May 24

THE Andhra Pradesh State Cable TV Operators' Welfare Association(APCTVOWA) has opposed the bandh call given by MSOs (Master Signal Operators) from Wednesday, blacking out Teja News and Aditya Music channels throughout the State.

The AP MSO's Welfare Association had announced that it would black out the two channels from the Gemini stable in protest against the bulldozing tactics of the television network to devour MSOs business.

Mr Pammi Sekhar, President of APCTVOWA, termed the MSOs' decision as "unfortunate". "They have taken a unilateral decision without taking our association into confidence. They didn't inform about their decision to our district units and State body. This is a bolt from the blue for TV viewers," Mr Sekhar said in a press release from Khammam.

The bandh call followed the decision by Gemini to start its own cable network called Gemini Cable Vision.
