Letters Going mainstream
India is now getting increasing and favourable attention in the mainstream media of the US. The Wall Street Journal, the largest circulated daily, recently carried an article appropriately titled "New India" written by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. The Prime Minister spoke of how India was stepping out "with confidence from a highly protected environment into a mercilessly competitive one" and that country was "wholly committed to multilateralism in trade" and ushering in "an open society and an open economy".
