Betts India to start production in HP facility from July

Mumbai , May 19

BETTS India, a 100 per cent subsidiary of the UK-headquartered Betts Group, is expected to commence production of laminated tubes at its upcoming facility in Himachal Pradesh by July. The company, which is setting up its second manufacturing base in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, is investing $10 million in this facility. It will be supplying laminated tubes to companies such as Colgate, Hindustan Lever Ltd, Anchor, Ajanta and Emami. Laminated tubes are mainly used for toothpaste, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products. The company has a facility in Goa.

The other leading player in laminated tubes is Essel Propack. The Betts Group not only has a presence in India, but also in China and Indonesia. "In China, we have two plants — one in Shanghai and the other in Ghungzhou," Mr Sergio Freitas, Managing Director, Betts India, said.

The group has manufacturing facilities in the UK, North America, Poland, Russia, Indonesia, China, South Africa and Brazil. Essel Propack also has facilities across many countries. As laminated tubes are transport-intensive, there is a need to set up facilities close to the users.
