AP exploring potential in Jafza zone in Dubai

Vimala Vasan

Abu Dhabi , May 15

ANDHRA Pradesh is exploring the possibility of investing in IT and healthcare in the newly opened Jafza South Zone in Dubai.

The AP Minister of Tourism, Dr J. Geeta Reddy, visited Jafza recently to explore the investment potential there.Dr Reddy, who was in Dubai to attend the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), met Dr Mohammed Al Banna, Regional Manager — Asia, Jafza. They discussed the possibility of IT and healthcare companies from Andhra Pradesh setting up operations in the South Zone.

"The fact that Jafza offers 100 per cent ownership and a tax-free environment, not to mention the convenience of a port within the zone, is a major incentive for investment. The infrastructure of Jafza as well as the facilities it offers are excellent," Dr Reddy said.

The Minister's visit is aimed at preparing the ground for a trip to Dubai by the Chief Minister, Dr Y. S. Rajashekhara Reddy, which could lead to greater cooperation between the State and Dubai. Dr Al Banna said, "The visit by Dr Reddy is in keeping with the business relations Dubai has traditionally shared with Andhra Pradesh."
