Chairperson of power Appellate Tribunal sworn in

New Delhi , May 14

THE Power Minister, Mr P.M. Sayeed, on Friday administered the oath of Office and Secrecy to the Chairperson and the Members of the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity.

In accordance with the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003, Mr Justice Anil Dev Singh, retired Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, whose name was recommended by the Chief Justice of India, has been appointed as the first Chairperson of the Tribunal.

On the basis of recommendations of the Selection Committee, Mr Justice E. Padmanabhan, retired Judge of the Chennai High Court, has been appointed as Judicial Member.

Mr H.L. Bajaj and Mr A.A. Khan have been appointed as Technical Members of the Tribunal.

Under the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003, the Centre was required to constitute the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity to hear appeals against the orders of the adjudicating officer or the Central and State Electricity Regulatory Commissions.
