Mergers & Acquisitions Siticable acquires RPG's MSO Our Bureau
Mumbai , May 14 SITICABLE Network Ltd, a 100-per cent subsidiary of Zee Telefilms Ltd, has acquired the multi-system operator Indian Cable Net Company Ltd (formerly RPG Netcom Ltd). Siticable did not reveal the value of the deal. Indian Cable Net Company has a significant presence in the cable distribution business in Kolkata. "With this acquisition, Siticable would become the leading player in cable distribution in Eastern India, besides strengthening its position in other parts of the country," a news release said. Siticable said it has issued an assurance to subscribers in Kolkata that "they would have access to high quality CATV services from Siticable and it would soon be taking appropriate initiatives to roll out digital services to provide enhanced viewing pleasure and wider entertainment choices." With this acquisition, Siticable has strengthened its nation-wide distribution network, in tune with the strategic processes at Zee, the company said. Siticable has taken on lease two cable networks of Bangalore - Ice Network and Atria Network. "Siticable has taken other measures as well to consolidate its cable distribution strength through an affiliation scheme, which has received enthusiastic response from various cable networks of the country, particularly in eastern UP, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat and Haryana," the company's news release said. There were reports earlier that the Chennai-based Sun Network was in talks with Indian Cable Net Company to acquire it.
