Kolkata , May 13

STANDARD Chartered Bank has budgeted a 30 per cent growth in its credit card business in the current fiscal.

The bank, which has about 1.5 million customers nationally, is eyeing, among others, the metro markets with a view to achieving its targets.

StanChart's card business, which recorded a 30 per cent increase in 2004-05, is well on its way to maintain the growth rate this year, said officials with the bank.

The bank, which has already tied up with such institutions as Sahara Airlines and RCI for issuing gold credit cards, will try to get more out of these relationships in the days ahead, it is pointed out. It may be mentioned here that the Standard Chartered RCI Gold Card, which provides exclusive travel benefits and special offers at RCI resorts worldwide, is billed as the country's first leisure credit card.

On Friday, the bank launched an affinity card in association with Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI). Mr Anirvan Ghosh Dastidar, Regional Head of StanChart, said the gold card would entitle holders to certain privileges, including a 35 per cent discount at The Palladian Lounge of BCCI up to end-February 2006.
