Savitri Jindal is group chairperson

MS Savitri Jindal on Thursday became the Jindal Group Chairperson, succeeding her late husband O.P. Jindal, following the board meeting of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd, where she was appointed additional director and chairperson of the board.

At each of the recent board meetings of the four companies controlled by her four sons, Ms Savitri Jindal was appointed chairperson of the board, making her the overall chairperson of the Rs 13,000-crore Jindal Group.

The eldest son Mr Prithvi Raj Jindal controls Jindal Saw Ltd (around Rs 1,700 crore) and its group companies. The second son Mr Sajjan Jindal controls Jindal Vijayanagar Steel Ltd (around Rs 5,000 crore) Third son Mr Ratan Jindal controls Jindal Stainless Ltd (Rs 3,000 crore), the largest stainless steel company in the country, and the youngest Mr Naveen Jindal controls Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (Rs 2,500 crore), the largest coal-based sponge iron company in the country.
