Allotment of prime land in Vizag to software cos opposed

Visakhapatnam , May 8

BOTH the Telugu Desam, the principal opposition party, and the CPI (M), an ally of the Congress, have expressed opposition to the allotment of 20 acres of prime land in the city to software companies.

Mr M.V.V.S Murthy (TDP), the former member of Parliament from Vizag, said at a press meet here on Sunday that there was no justification in allotting the prime land where currently the old TB hospital was situated to IT majors - Satyam, Wipro and Infosys.

The IT companies should have allotted land at Madhurawada where the Government was anyway planning to set up a park for such companies.

Mr K. Lokanadham, the city CPI (M) secretary, said the party would register its protest when the Chief Minister lays the foundation stone for the companies on Tuesday.

The Telugu Desam leaders too said they would organise a protest demonstration.
