Rubber prices unchanged

SPOT rubber was steady on Monday. Market activities were restricted to as buyers and sellers were not interested in quantum transactions.

Traders and other operators appeared to be waiting for revised quotations from the major manufactures before extending further support to the market.

Sheet rubber closed at Rs 59 a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi as on Saturday.

The futures market was mixed with May contract ruling at Rs 59.35 (Rs 59.40), June contract at Rs 61.11 (Rs 60.94), July contract at Rs 61.95 (Rs 61.99) and August contract at Rs 61.25 (Rs 61.19) per kg for RSS 4.

The market opened firm but weakened later towards mid-session with a decline in volumes. RSS 3 weakened to Rs 56.76 from Rs 57.07 a kg at Bangkok.

The spot market rates per kg were as follows: RSS-4: Rs 59 (Rs 59); RSS-5: Rs 58 (Rs 58); ungraded: Rs 57.50 (Rs 57.50); ISNR 20: Rs 57.50 (Rs 57.50) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 39.50 (Rs 39.50).
