HYDERABAD: With a view to help SMEs (small and medium enterprises) in protecting their intellectual property, the CII and Andhra Pradesh Technology Development and Promotion Centre (APTDC) have decided to conduct a survey to identify technologies and processes to ensure patent protection.
Addressing the workshop on `Public-private partnership for intellectual property protection of SMEs' here on Tuesday, Mr Ramesh Datla, former Chairman of CII (AP) and Managing Director of Elico Ltd, said the IPR cell at APTDC would take up the survey.
Ms Sharmila Roy Chowdhary, partner of the Delhi-based law firm Lex Orbis, felt that the Government should handhold SMEs.
Entrepreneurship and innovations were the assets of SMEs, she said and added that they had to be protected by patents.
Mr S. Bhattacharya, Commissioner of Industries (Government of Andhra Pradesh) said the State Government would reimburse all the expenditure of companies in securing a patent. Also, the Government would ensure protection of their patented products.
