MANGALORE: New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) honoured personnel of fire service department in the port recently as part of the Fire Service Day.

An NMPT release said here that these personnel rescued two crewmembers trapped in the confines of a cargo tank containing hazardous concentration of hydrocarbons on February 20.

The NMPT Chairman, Mr P. Tamilvanan, laid a wreath at the fire service station in honour of the fire fighters who sacrificed their lives while discharging duty. On the occasion, saplings were planted in the premises of the fire service station, the release added.
