Hardware Marketing - New Products & Services Intel launches dual-core processor Our Bureau
Hyderabad , April 20 COMPUTER geeks, gamers, video editors and digital designers are in for a big treat with the global chipmaker Intel launching its first dual-core processor here on Wednesday. The `pin-less' biscuit-sized processor would allow servers handle up to four tasks or software threads simultaneously by efficiently using resources that could otherwise be sitting idle. The company promised it would change the way people use their computers. It would help businesses with platforms that can handle complex and simultaneous transactions better, said Mr G.B. Kumar, Director (Sales) South Asia. The platform included the Pentium Processor Extreme Edition 840 running at 3.2 GHz and the Intel 955 Express Chipset. Computer manufacturers such as Dell have already started selling desktop PCs and workstations based on the new platform.
