WITH the commencement of summer holidays, Cartoon Network and POGO are gearing up to woo the children.

POGO will launch two new Indian productions, M.A.D (Music, Art and Dance) and Bam! Bam! Baam! Gir Pade Hum... while Cartoon Network will air its ninth local acquisition, Vikram Aur Betaal. Along with this, POGO will also premier the second film in the Harry Potter series — Harry Potter And The Chamber of Secrets next month.

Speaking to newspersons, Mr Ian Diamond, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, Turner Entertainment Networks Asia, said: "As leaders in the kids' television segment, we have constantly set new benchmarks and push the envelop for developing programming for kids."

He said Cartoon Network is the No. 1 children's channel of India with over 60 per cent channel share. This is three times the combined share of Hungama, Nick, Animax, Disney Channel and Toon Disney. He further added that POGO is the No 2 channel in the kids genre and has a 17 per cent share.

Turner International further said that over 90 per cent of all children's programmes that rate over 1 television rating get aired on Cartoon Network.
