Mumbai , April 12

ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company has in association with the Government of Maharashtra insured farmers aggregating nearly Rs 1 crore under the personal accident insurance policy. The State Government has sanctioned a total of Rs 6.48 crore as premium.

As per this scheme, in case of the death of a farmer due to any accident the family members would receive Rs 1 lakh and in case of disability the compensation to family member would range from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh.

The Mandhardevi pilgrimage tragedy in the Satara district was covered under this scheme and as on March 2005 reportedly 35 claims were admitted and paid under this scheme.
