Preliminary works begin for Sethusamudram

Madurai , April 11

THE preliminary works for the execution of Sethusamudram project has started, given the conditional clearance by the Union Ministry for Environment and Forests.

The nod from the Union Cabinet is still awaited.

The Tuticorin Port Trust, the nodal agency for the project has approached the State Government for allotment of 850 hectares of land for use during the period of implementation, expressing its willingness to give rent to the Government, in the Rameswaram-Dhanuskodi area.
