Aegon in talks with potential Indian partners

Amsterdam , April 11

DUTCH insurer Aegon NV is in talks on a possible insurance partnership in India, the Country Manager, Mr Vimal Bhandari, told the Dutch newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad in an interview published on Monday.

Mr Bhandari said that India's increasingly wealthy middle class of 250-300 million people and the relatively high annual economic growth of 6-7 per cent made the country a very attractive market to expand in. "Within five years, we hope to be active in 70 to 200 cities in India," Mr Bhandari added.

He said Aegon had started initial talks with potential partners in India and would look to offer life insurance, savings, investment and pension products.
