Awards & Honours FAPCCI awards announced Our Bureau
Hyderabad , April 8 TOP corporate houses such as TCS, Sanghi Polyesters, ITC Bhadrachalam and Shantha Biotechnics are among the winners of the FAPCCI (Federation of AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry) awards for the year 2003-04. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has won the `Best New Production Innovation Award' for developing innovative products such as Tata Bio Suite, a comprehensive portable modular software suite for bioinformatics. Sanghi Polyesters Ltd would receive the `Best All-round Performance Award'. Announcing this here at a press conference on Friday, Mr O.P. Goenka, FAPCCI President, said the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, would give away the awards on April 11. He said the Macherla unit (Guntur district) of KCP Ltd would receive the `Best Industrial Productive Award' for its outstanding productivity effort in manufacture and supply of cement. Ms Aartee R. Patil, Managing Director of ICON Accessories Private Ltd, won the `Best Lady Entrepreneur Award'. Her company manufactured `shoulder pads', an accessory used in fabrication of men's and women's suits and jackets. ITC Bhadrachalam would receive the `Best Environmental Improvement Activity Award' for adopting a massive clean technology programme with an investment of Rs 225 crore to produce bleached pulp and to improve greenery. Mr B. Sridhar, a mentally challenged youth, would get the `Best Self-sustaining Effort by a physically challenged person' award. Dr R.B.N. Prasad, Deputy Director and Head of Lipid Science and Technology Division of Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), won the `Best Scientist' award for developing eco-friendly processes for vegetable oil refining and value addition to the by-products of vegetable oil processing.
