Global Edge buys Ionic assets

BANGALORE: Global Edge Software, a Bangalore-based embedded software services company, has acquired the assets of Ionic Microsystems, another Bangalore-based technology provider for wireless LAN and broadband residential gateways.

Ionic offers technology for system-level designs, firmware and middleware required for a range of products for SOHO (small office home office) and home market segment. It specialises in Voice over Internet Protocol, Video on demand, WLAN and Blue Tooth technologies for a variety of home networking needs.

Announcing the acquisition, Mr M.P. Kumar, Founder CEO & Chairman of Global Edge, said that the total global potential embedded market revenue is about $21 billion, growing at an annual compounded rate of 16 per cent.
