Mixed trend in rubber prices

PHYSICAL rubber rates showed a mixed trend on Wednesday. Sheet rubber and ungraded rubber firmed up a tad on short covering from purchase agents and fresh buying from certain small manufacturers, while the other grades were inactive.

RSS 4 improved to Rs 55.50 from Rs 55.25 a kg at Kottayam and closed static at Rs 55.50 a kg at Kochi as on Tuesday.

The rubber futures were almost steady while the transactions were in a low key. The April contract was traded at Rs 56.95 (Rs 57), May at Rs 58.89 (Rs 58.97), June at Rs 60.10 (Rs 60.12) and July contract at Rs 61 (Rs 60.90) per kg for RSS 4.

At Bangkok, RSS 3 was static at Rs 57.69 a kg.

The spot rubber rates per kg were RSS-4 at Rs 55.50 (Rs 55.25); RSS-5 - Rs 54 (Rs 54); ungraded - Rs 53.50 (Rs 53.25); ISNR 20 - Rs 54 (Rs 54); and latex 60% - Rs 40 (Rs 40).
