Mr Hans Kuepper
Chennai , March 21 THERE is enormous potential for Indian software firms to set up presence in Russia. Indian firms can duplicate in Russia what they are doing in India, according to Mr Hans Kuepper, Associate Director, Ernst & Young (CIS) B.V., Transaction Advisory Services. "There are a number of Russian small companies, which could also be acquired by Indian companies. I am here to look for potential buyers and also talk to Indian companies to know their requirement to set up presence in Russia," he said. Talking to newspersons at sidelines of Indiasoft 2005, a two-day event on information, communication and technology organised by the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), Mr Kuepper said in 2003 Russia's software industry was $1.2 billion, and out of this $800 million was exports. Revenue of the largest Russian IT firm, which is into financial services, was $65 million and there are a number of small and medium size firms, he said. The Russian government allows 100 per cent acquisition of IT and telecom, and there will not be any problem for acquisitions in Russia, he said. Large companies, including Intel, Motorola and Sun Microsystems, use Russia for captive purposes, he said. Mr Kuepper said the Russian government has rolled out a ten-year e-Russia programme. ,
