CARGO airline FedEx Express, along with flying eye hospital ORBIS, on Thursday launched an eye health campaign to focus on the threat of blindness and delivering sight to the visually challenged. Their programme, which is dedicated to corneal blindness, also highlights eye banking and eye donation.
Mr Jacques Creeten, Managing Director, Indian Subcontinent, FedEx Express and Mr Carlos Solarte, Medical Director, ORBIS, appealed to citizens to become ambassadors for the cause.
ORBIS is the only flying eye hospital in the world. It focuses on the enhancement of skills of ophthalmologists, nurses, and other healthcare workers, who, in turn, provide treatment and training in their respective countries. The aircraft DC 10-10 serves as the only tool for this exercise.
