HCL Tech in mainframe migration alliance

Our Bureau

New Delhi , March 16

HCL Technologies has joined the Mainframe Migration Alliance (MMA) founded by Microsoft and industry partners.

The MMA brings together IT industry players, tools, developers and global system integrators with a common commitment to help their customers reduce the cost of maintaining and modernising their IBM and other mainframe systems, an HCL release said here today.

The alliance help companies address the challenges posed by owning and maintaining legacy application environments.

"The growing business need for reducing IT costs, the shrinking pool of internal programming and management skills and the need for greater flexibility in IT systems, is driving the demand for migration from mainframe systems to more agile and flexible Microsoft Windows Server System software and Microsoft .NET environments," it said.

Commenting on the alliance, Mr V.S. Sriram, Corporate Vice-President, HCL Technologies, said, "Working with Microsoft and the MMA, HCL will assist its customers to migrate seamlessly from mainframes to Microsoft server software. HCL is positioned to undertake such migrations helping customers benefit from reduced Total Cost of Ownership offered by MS platforms."
