THE London School of Economics (LSE) and the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for research and training in financial markets for policy advocacy.

The MoU will set up a `two-way street' where both IFMR and LSE will work towards `knowledge sharing' in certain key areas.

LSE signed a similar agreement with CII last year and is now talking to the Reserve Bank of India, Jawaharlal Nehru University and the Tata Institute for Social Sciences for more such collaborations.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, Prof. Henrietta Moore, Deputy Director, LSE, said, "Our research has a policy angle to it. This is part of our larger Asian strategy, where structural collaboration is the way forward in knowledge sharing."

IFMR has identified two specific areas for research: emerging market finance and micro-finance.
