Halon production phased out: Minister

New Delhi , March 11

INDIA has stopped production and consumption of halon in accordance with the Montreal Protocol on environment.

The Minister of Environment and Forests, Mr A. Raja, said that halon production and consumption have been completely phased out in India.

He unveiled the commemorative plaque to mark the closure of the production site, as required under the Montreal Protocol, and launching the global programme of UNEP.
