Hyderabad , March 9

THE Andhra Pradesh Minister for Agriculture, Mr N. Raghuveera Reddy, said the State Government was contemplating to send a team of experts from the Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University and representatives of various farmers associations to study the feasibility of development of agricultural lands in Uganda and Kenya by the State farmers.

Replying to a question raised by Mr G. Chinna Reddy and Mr R. Suryaprakasa Rao during the question hour in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, the Minister said no decision had been so far taken to send farmers from the State to the two African countries.

He said that Mr C.C. Reddy, an Advisor to the State Government, and others have visited the two countries in October, last year and found that only 15 per of the land in Kenya and 30 per cent of the land in Uganda were under cultivation at present. Both the countries were also willing to provide agricultural land to Indian farmers for cultivation.
