Rubber Mixed trend in spot rubber Our Correspondent
Kottayam , March 8 A MIXED trend prevailed in spot rubber on Tuesday. According to sources, the market appeared to be in a holiday mood throughout the session and the transactions were in a low key. While most of the grades remained unchanged, sheet rubber and ungraded rubber improved on scattered transactions in the absence of quantum sellers. RSS 4 closed better at Rs 54.25 against Rs 54 a kg at Kottayam but was static at Rs 54 a kg at Kochi. Rubber futures were almost steady quoting the March contract at Rs 54.10 against Rs 54.07 a kg. The April contract was quoted at Rs 56.61 (56.38), May contract at Rs 58.40 (58.21) and June contract at Rs 59.98 (59.80) per kg for RSS 4. The market opened slightly weak but improved towards mid-session with moderate volumes At TOCOM, the April futures for RSS 3 slipped to 137.3 yen from 137.9 yen a kg on Monday. The spot rubber prices per kg on Tuesday were as follows: RSS-4: Rs 54.25 (54); RSS-5: Rs 53 (53); ungraded: Rs 52.50 (52); ISNR 20: Rs 53.25 (53.25); and latex 60 per cent: Rs 39.50 (39.50).
