Mangalore , March 7

THE Karnataka Cashew Manufacturers' Association (KCMA), in association with the Department of Horticulture, National Horticulture Board, and Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Programme (SKDRDP), will hold a seminar on `Opportunities for increasing raw cashew production in Karnataka' at Muduperar in Mangalore on Wednesday.

In a press release here on Monday, the KCMA President, Mr K. Prakash Rao, said that the Karnataka Horticulture Minister, Mr R. Srinivas, will inaugurate the seminar. The seminar is aimed at understanding the difficulties in cashew cultivation in the State, and to look at ways to increase the production to one-lakh tonnes in the next 10 years. The seminar will help in providing feedback to the Government on the policies to be brought out to achieve one-lakh tonne target.

The Director of Horticulture, Dr G.K. Vasantha Kumar, and the SKDRDP Executive Director, Dr L.H. Manjunath, will be the resource persons at the seminar. Over 250 cashew growers from all over the State are expected to participate in the seminar, the release added.
