Our Bureau

Hyderabad , March 4

AS many as 88 companies in Andhra Pradesh are selling substandard packaged drinking water, according to the State Finance Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah.

Replying to a question in the Legislative Assembly during question hour on Friday, Mr Rosaiah said that the State Government had so far initiated prosecution against 38 companies and would launch prosecution against the remaining 50 under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act.

Raising the question, Mr T. Jeevan Reddy of the Congress, said that nearly 50 per cent of the companies engaged in the business of packaged drinking water were bogus. They were using contaminated water from bore wells.
