Chennai, March 4

SOFTWARE exports from Tamil Nadu are likely to touch Rs 10,000 crore for the year ending March 31, 2005 as against Rs 8,000 crore for 2003-04.

About 25,000 new jobs were created in the last couple of years in IT, ITES and BPO sectors in the State, said Mr Harinarain.

And, with companies such as Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Cognizant Technology, Wipro and Satyam expanding their presence in and around Chennai, there is potential to add 50,000 jobs in the next couple of years, he said.

Tamil Nadu's IT hardware policy is in final stage of completion and is expected to be ready by end of the year.

The State is getting a lot of attention among foreign IT hardware manufacturers, and there have been a couple of foreign delegations to the city to study the feasibility of setting up units here, he said.
