HCL biz unit head gets MMA award

MS Jayashree Vaidhyanathan, Director and Business Unit Head, HCL Technologies Ltd, has been selected for the Outstanding Woman Manager of the Year award for 2005, instituted by the Madras Management Association (MMA). The award will be presented at the valedictory function of the MMA Women Managers Forum's Convention.

The earlier winners are Ms Rajini Seshadri, Principal Consultant, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, for 2004; Ms Aruna Rangachar, Director, Interspice Biotech Pvt Ltd, for 2003; and Ms Vasunda Narasimhan, ITC Ltd, for 2002. Ms Nirmal Mirza, Chairperson, MMA, Women Managers Forum, and CEO, Sitagita.com Ltd, said that this year a new award has been instituted to recognise the most women-friendly company. The company will be judged on its family-friendly polices, training programmes for women and whether there are women at all levels of management. The company should also be based in Tamil Nadu, she said.

This year's speakers include Ms Margaret Alwa, Honorary Advisor, Bureau-Parliamentary Studies and Training, Ms Ranjana Kumar, Chairperson, NABARD, Dr Kiran Bedi and Ms Renuka Chaudhury, Union Minister for Tourism.

The convention will be held on March 8 in Chennai. The tickets priced at Rs 1,000 are available at Landmark, Shilpi, Nuts & Spices, Crossword and Odyssey.
