Tea Havukal winter tea fetches Rs 810 a kg Our Bureau
Kochi , Feb. 20 THE finest winter quality tea, SFTGFOP produced by the Havukal Tea Estate in Nilgiris, fetched a price of Rs 810 a kg, the highest price realised this year. The Carritt Moran and Company has sold it through a private treaty to Suthirth Exports here. Normally, the tea estate produces around 1,000 kg of this variety of high flavour orthodox tea from fine leaf plucked during the winter months from December to February, Mr Shankar Menon of Carritt Moran & Co told Business Line. It is mainly exported to Japan and Europe for blending purpose. This year the production is estimated at around 300 kg.
