Pungent deal

A farmer harvesting pepper on Friday. The State Co-operative Marketing Federation (Marketfed) has procured 400 tonnes of pepper at Rs 75 per kg from small and marginal farmers in the districts of Idukki, Wayanad, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Palakad and Thrissur so far. Procurement has now been suspended for want of funds.
