Kerala coir sector ends strike

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The two-week-old agitation by coir workers in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts has been called off.

Announcing this, an official spokesman said that an amicable settlement to the effect was reached at during conciliatory talks convened by the Labour Commissioner, Mr S. Sreenivasan. Coir workers will now get a hike of Rs 15 in daily wages, the spokesman added.
