Software Intransa to double investment Our Bureau
Chennai , Feb. 11 INTRANSA Inc, a US-based storage solutions provider, plans to double its investment in India to about $8 million (Rs 36 crore) this year, according to Mr B. Chandrasekhar, Country Manager, Intransa Inc. The company, which has a research and development team in Pune, would also double its manpower in India to around 100 by year-end, he told newspersons. Intransa provides IPSAN (Internet Protocol Storage Area Network) solutions to enable communication between storage devices and computers using Internet protocol, he said. According to Mr Udi Paret, Vice-President, Global Operations, Intransa Inc, India is the nerve centre for Intransa's global operations. The Pune centre does software development and provides technical support. The manpower increase would be for both functions, and also in sales and marketing, he said. The San Jose-based Intransa employs 50 people in India, which constitutes third of its global workforce. By this year-end, the company's total global employees would increase to 200-250, and of this, around 100 would be in India, he said. Founded in September 2000, Intransa secured a total of $74 million in funding from Menlo Ventures, Advanced Technology Ventures, Sofinnova Ventures, Sofinnova Partners, US Venture Partners, and a major pension fund, according to a company press release. Being a privately held company, officials declined to give financial numbers.
