Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Officers and employees of the National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (Nabard) staged a sit-in in front of the Regional Office here to press a series of demands, including retention of its status as a developmental financial institution.

This was done as part of the all-India agitation launched jointly by the Nabard Officers' Association (NBOA) and All India Nabard Employees Association (AINBEA) in June last. The demonstrators also demanded preservation of parity in pay and service conditions with that of employees of the Reserve Bank.

Mr Chandra Senan, Chairman of the Associate Banks Officers Association (State Bank of Travancore Unit) inaugurated the proceedings.
