Visakhapatnam , Feb. 4

ROADWORKS at a cost of Rs 50 crore are being taken up in the city under the Comprehensive Road Development Project, according to Mr N. Srikanth, Municipal Commissioner.

At a press meet here on Friday, he said all the main roads and the arterial ones would be widened as a part of the project in view of the increasing traffic.

``Besides, we are also planning a major flyover project at Asilmetta in the heart of the city to reduce congestion. RITES is conducting a traffic survey and study for the purpose. Besides the major flyover, there are proposals for another four flyovers at Gopalapatanm, NAD and other places. These projects are being taken up in view of the traffic increase in the next two decades,'' he said.

He said the Poorna Market would be upgraded at a cost of Rs 6 crore.

In response to a question on Godavari waters, he said it had already reached the Kanithi balancing reservoir and, after the completion of the ongoing work on pipelines and filtration plant in a month or so, the water would be available for supply to the people. "There will be no water problem this summer,'' he added.
