Procter & Gamble Hygiene net up 7 pc in Q2

PROCTER & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd (PGHH) reported a seven per cent increase in its profit after tax for the second quarter ended December 2004 at Rs 41.95 crore on the back of higher sales.

Total sales of Rs 198.75 crore showed a growth of 19 per cent over the year ago period.

The company's core business consisting of health care and feminine hygiene categories grew by 10 per cent while contract manufacturing business grew by 69 per cent.

The Whisper feminine hygiene business grew by 24 per cent to achieve sales of Rs 49.91 crore (Rs 40.12 crore). The sales of Vicks Health Care brands for the second quarter stood at Rs 72.92 crore and grew by 2 per cent (Rs 71.6 crore). For the six-month period, the total sales of Rs 340.83 crore, a 10 per cent growth over sales of Rs 296.38 crore in the year-ago period.
