InterContinental Goa in pact with Champneys for spa therapies

Our Bureau

Bangalore , Jan. 19

InterContinental The Grand Resort, Goa has started offering the Champneys spa experience at the property.

The UK-based Champneys Health Resorts is one of the largest destination spa brands in the world. With this tie-up, InterContinental Goa will offer spa therapies inspired by traditional ayurvedic treatments.

Speaking to Business Line, Mr Jagmohan Misra, Vice-President and General Manager, The Grand Ashok, Bangalore, said that InterContinental Goa expected to host at least 25-30 Champneys guests every day. Intercontinental Goa is a 255-suite property and currently has an occupancy rate of 68-70 per cent, he said.

The partnership involves no financial investment from Champneys Resorts, but is based on a `revenue-sharing model,' according to Mr Misra. Champneys Health Resorts, a £40-million destination spa group, has four resorts and a city club in the UK.

Mr Raymond Payne, Managing Director, Champneys Health Resorts, said, "We are looking at two clear markets for Champneys Goa: one is the British traveller who's already familiar with the Champneys experience and is looking for the same in India and the second is the domestic traveller who wants to experience a Western spa brand."

Champneys Resorts is also considering similar tie-ups in other Grand Group properties in Bangalore and Delhi.

The Champneys Goa holidays are priced between Rs 46,100 and Rs 1,00,920 ranging from three to seven days. These include lifestyle, luxury, couples and ayurvedic packages.
