ICFAI B-school to allow students vend financial products

BUOYED by the success of its students in selling full-time and distance learning management products, the ICFAI Business School (IBS) is now planning to enter into strategic alliances with various banks, financial institutions, insurance companies and pension funds to sell their high-end and specialised products across the country.

According to the ICFAI University Vice-President, Mr Sanjay Ramchandani, the unique programme designed by IBS for selling management products, titled Stipendiary Assignment Program (SAP), not only helped the students apply the concepts learnt in the classroom in a real business environment, but also enabled them earn back the entire amount they spent on their course fee and stay.

"Apart from providing an opportunity to earn while learning, the SAP initiative also benefits the students in honing their skills and mentoring them to become successful professionals. The rich exposure and networking in the process would also enable the students market themselves better in the competitive environment," Mr Ramchandani told reporters here.

IBS has organised its fourth all India SAP conference here to reward the top achievers, who have made it to the Achievers Club from the 16 ICFAI Business Schools across the country. IBS has selected 135 students for the three-day achievers' meet on the basis of their performance in selling the management products.

"We expect to evolve suitable strategies on selling financial products at these brainstorming sessions and expand our product portfolio. To begin with, we may allow our students to market general products of banks, financial institutions, insurance companies and pension funds. Over a period, we would confine to niche and high-end financial products," Mr Ramchandani said.
