Our Bureau

MANGALORE: The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has urged the Union Government to set up a passport office in Mangalore.

In a letter to the Union External Affairs Minister, Mr K. Natwar Singh, copies of which were released to the Press here on Thursday, the KCCI President, Mr A. Srinivasa Rao, said that nearly 28,000 applications were collected at passport application collection centre in Mangalore during 2004. Added to this, several applications were received for renewal of passports. Seeking approval from the Minister for a full-fledged passport office in Mangalore, Mr Rao promised that KCCI would facilitate the establishment of the office building in the heart of the city.
