NPPA raises prices of Analgin

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Jan. 4

PRICES of drugs for fever, pain and aches may go up as the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has increased the price of bulk drug Analgin (metamizole) by 4.81 per cent, from Rs 437 per kg to Rs 458 per kg.

According to an official statement, Analgin price has been raised based on requests made by the only known manufacturer of this bulk drug, Vani Chemicals. The company's request was based on increase in input costs of the raw material.

It has also fixed the price of bulk drugs Parachlorometaxylenol anti-microbial ingredient at Rs 249 per kg. The maximum sale price of the drug has been fixed based on cost-cum-techno economic study. The only known manufacturer of this bulk drug is Reckitt Benckiser that submitted relevant information.
