Rubber Rubber records sharp gains Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Dec. 31 THE last trading day of the year witnessed a smart upswing in physical rubber prices as the rumour about delay in imports dominated the sentiments. Moderate buying from covering groups and purchase agents pushed up sheet rubber prices, while the other grades also gained sharply on enquires from non-tyre sectors. Expectation of firm natural rubber prices in 2005 continued to keep the arrivals tight. RSS 4 improved to Rs 55.00. The January delivery was quoted at Rs 55.22 (Rs 55.21), February delivery at Rs 56.59 (Rs 56.34), March delivery at Rs 57.50 (Rs 57.41) and April delivery at Rs 58.75 (Rs 58.43) per kg for RSS 4. According to sources, transactions were comparatively low though the market appeared firm. Most of the international markets were closed on Friday. The spot rubber rates per kg are as follows: RSS 4 55.00 (54.25); RSS 5 53.00 (52.50); ungraded 51(50.50); ISNR 20 52.50 (52.25); latex 60 per cent 42 (41.50).
